Adult Performance and Drama Teaching Courses

We offer a variety of adult acting classes which can be taken individually or together with the option to pursue an internationally recognised diploma in performance from Trinity College London, or teaching from the London College of Music at the University of West London. We offer an adult acting class, drama class and teaching course. 

 

Autumn Term 2023

 

Adult Introductory Level and Performance Diploma Courses

This course has been designed to give all students a foundation in voice, acting, and performance skills. This course is open to all levels. After this first term you will have built up a base in performance skills and if you would like, you can go on to one of our diploma courses in either: Speech and Drama (poetry, prose, acting, theatre), Performing Arts (any performance elements – acting, film, musical theatre, movement, costume etc.) or Public Speaking. Or you can simply continue on to gain skills and build up your performance show-reel.
 
Drama – Voice, Acting and Physicality – Acting techniques for stage and screen, workshops in movement, physical theatre and stage combat, improvisation, group scenes, devising original performance material, film-making. Study theatre practitioners and Method Acting Techniques such as Stanislavsky, Meisner, Laban, Viewpoints, Adler and more.
 
Speech – Performing Text – Vocal theory and speech training, building a clear, confident voice, public speaking and communication, character voices, voice-over work, poetry, prose and verse speaking, performing Shakespeare, literature and theatre studies. Option to prepare audition pieces for entry to drama college or to prepare for an internationally recognised qualification in Speech and Drama performance (pre-requisite for diploma in teaching speech and drama). Students will learn to perform a range of solo and group material including varying texts from different theatre periods, poetry and literature.
 
Film-Making – this class will teach you some key principles for directing and creating films. Learn the ropes of what it’s like to be on the other side of the camera and greatly improve your ability to act to camera by appearing in classmates filmed sequences
 
Agency and Casting: We also offer a full agency service free of charge to all students which includes having headshots taken, being sent for relevant auditions, and help preparing for auditions and developing showreel pieces.
 
The Inclusive Foundation in Acting Course: If you decide to sign up for the 10 week adult foundation course you will get all of the above classes as well as weekly feedback on solo performance pieces and free access to additional workshops we will be running in – casting (how to land auditions), content creation and social media, creative writing, stand-up comedy and more. The total price for the course is €1000 and this can be paid in full, or in instalments.

 

Speech and Drama Teacher Training

Teaching Speech and Drama: This acting and teaching class is in preparation for the University of West London Associate or Licentiate diploma in Speech and Drama Teaching (equivalent to first year and final year of university studies respectively). Students will work on planning classes for a range of age groups and will get feedback on their lesson plans, presentations, and essay work around teaching pedagogy. Work as a team teacher with some of our classes to learn the ropes of teaching speech and drama and engage in practice based learning.
